Hi, I’m Xinling Wang. Currently, I’m pursuing an MFA in Industrial Design from California College of the Arts and have a Bachelor of Material Science and Engineering degree from Zhejiang University of Technology. Coming from an engineering background, I saw the importance of multidisciplinarity to make people see this world differently. And I seek to learn a bit more every day by exploring the unknown with wide-eyed curiosity.
For my recent practice, I am trying to position myself as an artist, archivist, and digital translator. I am building Chinese utopias in the digital realm that bring one closer to past cultural identity. I utilize technologies such as digital archiving, 3D scanning, and animation as tools to regenerate (past) and imagine (future) the stories of many iconic Chinese literary imageries through the long-term conversation between me and my grandpa without constraints of time and space. It's a broader reflection aimed at helping others find their sense of peoplehood and belonging.

我试图将自己定位为一名艺术家、档案保管员和数字翻译者。我正在数字领域构建中国乌托邦，让人们更接近过去的文化身份。我利用数字存档、三维扫描和动画等技术作为工具，通过我和爷爷之间不受时间和空间限制的长期对话，再生（过去）和想象（未来）许多标志性中国文学形象的故事。这是一种更广泛的思考，旨在帮助其他人找到他们的民族感和归属感。
